Frequently Asked Questions
NOW THAT MY CROSSBOW SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED, WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Your Crossbow agent or authorized dealer will help you choose a Username and a default password. Find that on your paperwork and go to the website and enter your Username and Password and then click the Login button. This will take you to the main menu of the vehicle interaction page. Select your vehicle. You should first fill in information concerning your vehicle, contract information, and customer information in the appropriate areas... be sure and enter all the pertinent information so system will function properly. This information is kept confidential. IMPORTANT: Please remember to update your profile should any information change from existing information in our records.
HOW DOES THE SYSTEM SEND AN EMAIL, TEXT MESSAGE, IVR ALERT, and IN-VEHICLE BEEPER?
On the same tab where you enter the information about your vehicle, you will be required to configure an email address and cellular number in the system to receive email or text message alerts. Cell or other number can be used for IVR. When a message is required it will be automatically sent to the address and numbers you entered. Please be sure that the email address or phone numbers you enter are correct. Simply check the desired "Notify" box and select the contact person.
HOW DO I LOCATE MY VEHICLE?
Crossbow automatically tracks your vehicle in real-time, and allows you manual access as well. To find your vehicle and get the precise location, first select the device and click on it, click Locate. The request will be transmitted over-the-air, a process that may take up to two minutes. Once the command has been successfully completed, a map will automatically be displayed. You will see the vehicle's position with the icon that identifies your vehicle on the map screen. The time-of-message, street address, direction, and speed are also displayed.
HOW ACURATE IS THE POSITION OF THE ICON SHOWING MY VEHICLE’S LOCATION ON THE MAP?
The latitude and longitude returned by your vehicle is accurate to within 30 meters or about 100 feet . It is normal for there to be some "drift" between each location request, but it should not exceed this amount.
CAN I SEE WHERE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE LAST DAY OR TWO?
Yes, in fact you can run a history report on your vehicle from a few hours as far back as six months. Any over-the-air communications with the device will be displayed in this message history. In fact with Crossbow you can designate a particular time and date and the system will provide the location.
